Movie Review- The Pursuit of Happyness

"It was right then that I started thinking about Thomas Jefferson, the Declaration of Independence and the part about our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. And I remember thinking: How did he know to put the pursuit part in there? That maybe happiness is something that we can only pursue. And maybe we can actually never have it, no matter what. How did he know that?" - Chris Gardner

Firstly released in 2006, this movie has brought me a ton of tears. I have watched this movie several times but still, I could help but crying. Pursuit of Happyness is a movie starred by William Smith and his son Jaden Smith. This movie is awesome.

Pursuit of Happyness talked about a family struggle living in The United States of America. William smith as the father is a seller and he has to sell medical stuff to some doctors so that they can survive. Of course it is not easy, his life becomes even harder after his wife leaves him and he has to take care of his little son- Jaden. The trial doesn’t stop there, He’s trying to look for another job while selling those stuff. He enrols to an internship program, but it isn’t paid. He also has to lose his house because he couldn’t afford to pay the rent anymore. Will has to sleep in the bathroom station with his son- this part is the saddest part of the movie-. Finally, when he has a little money left, the bank where he saves his money take away the money from his account because he mislaid the tax and he has no money left.

He doesn’t give up on life. He goes to the place for homeless man and sleep there for many nights. He doesn’t forget about his internship, tho. He keeps studying and learning even in the blackout. In the end of the story, he finally beats the life, he passes the internship program and then became a success person.

What I like from this movie is this movie told us about the real struggle of a man who finally wins the battle with the life. He never gives up on life, on work, or on his family. This movie also shares a really emotional sense. That when life gives you lemon, all you need to do is to make a lemon juice, meaning that whatever happen to you in life, whatever trials you face in life, don’t give up and turn them into a blessing.

I strongly recommend this movie to watch in anytime, when you feel sad, happy, disappointed, unsatisfied, satisfied, blessed, or so. This movie can be the number one movie on your list!
